Drag ‘n’ Drive racing has exploded in the USA in recent years. Hot rod drag week began in 2004 run by hotrod magazine. The idea behind the week is that you race your car then drive it to the next track. This was a popular event but the only one of its kind for a long time. Now there are many many race weeks run in the US and Australia. Sick Week, Rocky Mountain Race Week and Race Week 2.0 are just some of the week long races run across the pond.
Santa Pod in the UK has arranged Street Weekend 16th, 17th and 18th June 2023. Yes its only 3 days but as a first event in the UK i for one cannot wait.
I have been watching some of the race weeks in the US for a few years now hoping one day to ship a car across the pond to take part myself, never for one moment did i think that we would have an event like this in the UK.
So i have entered! I have entered race weekend with my Classic Mini that is fitted with a 1.6 litre Vauxhall engine. I know it isn’t a fast car, nor is it competitive in any form of drag racing. But i’m going to have a blast.
I will be posting videos on my youtube channel of this event, hopefully i will upload a new video at the end of each days racing and travelling.
